The School celebrated the Ven Mary Ward Day on Monday 23 January – Mary Ward’s birthday - with a Mass.
We were honoured that Sister Jane Livesy gave the address, making this her final commitment prior to her departure to Rome to take up her position as the General Superior of the Congregation of Jesus.
Sister Jane is the first British woman since the 18th century to be chosen as the leader of the worldwide order. More than 60 members of the order chose Sister Jane to be their new head at an election gathering in Spain. She will take up her post in Rome where she will lead nearly 2,000 nuns in 24 countries spread over four continents.
Charlotte Avery, Headmistress, commented: “The address was most thought-provoking and our students were privileged to hear the Mass. We wish Sr Jane Godspeed and thank her for her huge contribution to the school as Governor and friend.”
Below is a copy of the address given by Sister Jane Livesy.
