Sixth Form Trip to Rome

Posted in: Latest News

The Lower Sixth Latin and Classical Civilisation students and their teachers rounded off the academic year in style with a weekend in Rome. Classical sites formed the focus of their visit, in particular the forum, Palatine and Colosseum, the Pantheon, Ara Pacis and the spectacular Baths of Diocletian.

There was time too for lesser-known sites, such as the Byzantine church of S. Clemente built on Roman foundations. The students, whether they are studying Latin literature in the original or in translation, were able to set into context the writings of imperial Rome which they are studying.

Staff and students alike enjoyed a wonderful weekend together, in a beautiful combination of cultural enrichment and relaxation.
