We are delighted to announce a new Sixth Form Physics Scholarship has been added to our Scholarships scheme.
This new award is intended for girls with outstanding scientific ability who have previously been educated in the state sector to study science subjects, particularly Physics, and also Mathematics at St Mary’s. Applicants should be planning to study Physics or a physics-related subject at University. Two annual Scholarships are available, both for up to 95% of full day school fees.
Charlotte Avery, Headmistress of St Mary’s Cambridge, explained: “We are thrilled to be offering another exciting Scholarship at St Mary’s: it is our aim to help girls to make the most of every opportunity to develop their talents, to share them with others in a spirit of wider service as well as enjoying achievement to the best of their ability.
“The Ogden Trust Mathematics and Physics Scholarship has been introduced in partnership with The Ogden Trust to maximise opportunities available to girls wishing to study Physics.
“Through the scheme, I hope to provide girls currently outside our School community with the opportunity to join St Mary’s and benefit from the expert teaching in Sciences and Mathematics that our dedicated and experienced teachers are able to provide, as endorsed by our fantastic inspection reports last summer term. Moreover, as the only all-through girls’ school in Cambridge, we are keen to encourage and promote the learning of Science, in particular Physics, to girls in an environment where they can be given the appropriate resources and support.
“It is an accolade to be associated with The Ogden Trust and I am delighted that the Trust has generously agreed to work in partnership with us in establishing this important new scholarship.”
St Mary’s has a well established Scholarship scheme to recognise and celebrate excellence in academic achievement, the Creative Arts and Sport, as well as a commitment and service to the wider community. Scholarships currently remain available for entry to Year 7 and Year 9 in September 2012 for Sport, Music, Art, Textiles, Drama and Performing Arts.
