Please Sir, Can We Have Some More

Posted in: Latest News

St Mary's was briefly transported back to the Victorian era as students took to the stage for their adaptation of the West End favourite 'Oliver' this term and invited the audience back to the dirty, crime filled streets of "Old London Town".

The cast of more than 100 pupils, spanning class groups from Year 7 to the Lower Sixth, brought to life Dickens' timeless characters and treated the audience to show-stopping numbers such as 'Food Glorious Food' and 'Consider Yourself'.

The Music and Drama departments along with students from across the school spent many months rehearsing, set designing and costume making in time for the four evening performances during January.

A special thanks go to Mrs Sonia Gears, Miss Emma Levy, Mrs Petra Stephenson and Mr Martin Scott for the fantastic music score and to Miss Sally Jones and Mrs Susan Vanderstay for coaching the girls and directing the magnificent production.

Well done to everyone involved in making the production such a roof raising success.
