Charm and flairled a team of three Year 11 St Mary's girls to score a resounding victory against a team of boys from The Perse at an ESU public speaking event.
Kitty U, Emily R and Marina C will now go onto the next round of the English Speaking Union competition at Oakham Castle on 24 February. They are set to compete against, among others, Uppingham.
Diana Larman, who has been helping to coach the girls, said: "Talented public speakers from a range of state and independent schools in Cambridge, gathered at Netherhall for the prestigious English Speaking Union competition.
"Emily offered the main speech and argued that 'Crime is the natural response to an unjust society', responding to challenging questions with humour and confidence.
"Marina was in the Chair and used her strong social skills to coordinate different parts of the presentation.
"Kitty took the role of Questioner and rose to the challenge with the shrewdness and determination one would expect from a budding politician."
