Headmistress' Welcome
At St Mary's Junior School we are proud of our friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Here you will discover a calm and happy environment that encourages each individual student to thrive. Each child is nurtured and understood by the caring teachers who take the time to listen and discuss.
In our all-girls environment, the classroom is a dynamic place where concentration and hard work are easily facilitated. Small class sizes allow for focused individual attention. The children are encouraged to question and to investigate and through our personalised learning approach are given the opportunity for one-to-one tuition with comprehensive support from assistants.
Our week is well balanced between academic, artistic and physical endeavour along with pastoral and spiritual guidance. Pastoral care begins as soon as the children arrive at school and extends beyond the end of the school day.
We warmly invite you to visit St Mary's Junior School and experience our happy learning environment. We look forward to meeting and welcoming you.

Why St Mary's?
St Mary's is unique in a number of ways. For example, we are a Catholic day and boarding school for girls, the only school of this type in Cambridge. Additionally, St Mary's is now the only all-girls' school in Cambridge, which is widely acknowledged to be the best learning environment for girls. We educate girls from ages 4-18, providing a seamless transition at every stage of your daughter's education.
We always encourage and warmly welcome you to visit. Don't just take our word from what you read on these pages, do come and see us!
Why Choose a Girls' School?
What are the benefits?
- Better exam results. Single-sex schools dominate the top of the exam league tables.
- Girls and boys mature at different rates. Girls benefit from being in a school that recognises this difference in maturity and provides an education specifically geared to their needs.
