All classes are taught by primary specialists. This teaching is supplemented by specialist teaching in creative arts (including Dance and Music), Modern Foreign Languages, Information Communication Technology (ICT) and PE. Some of these specialist teachers are shared with St Mary's Senior School, making the eventual transition to the Senior School even more seamless.
Pre-Prep Curriculum
In the Pre–Prep, Reception and Years 1 and 2 broadly follow the National Curriculum at Foundation and Key Stage 1 levels. In Reception, the timetable is finely balanced between formal learning, imaginative play and physical activity. At Key Stage 1 level, in Years 1 and 2, there is a combination of formal classroom teaching with creative and investigative opportunities.
Prep Curriculum
In the Prep, Years 3–6 broadly follow the National Curriculum at Key Stage 2. The form teacher is responsible for teaching the core curriculum and subjects taught or guided by specialist teachers include Music, Modern Foreign Languages (French in all Years, and German / Spanish in Years 5 and 6), Art, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Religious Education, Gymnastics, Swimming and Dance.
Assessment
Continuity and progression are carefully monitored, and this is underscored by a regular programme of formal and informal assessment and reporting.
