St Mary's Student Wins Boarder of the Year Competition

St Mary’s Headmistress, Charlotte Avery, presents Lina with her winner’s certificate.

Year 13 student Lina A was crowned the Hobson's Boarder of the Year in May. Lina entered a contest to find the UK's most talented international boarding students. Over 100 students nationwide entered the competition, which was organised by the publishers of The Hobson's UK Boarding Schools Guide.

The awards ceremony was held at The Globe Theatre in London on 13^th May 2008. Unfortunately, Lina was not able to attend to collect her award – she was sitting her first AS Level exam!

Hobson's spokesperson Dominic Moon, who organised the competition, said: “The Year 12-13 category Lina entered was the most fiercely contested. Even to make the finals was an achievement in itself, so to be crowned winner was even better.” Congratulations Lina!
