In order to attend St Mary’s Sixth Form, you will need at least seven GCSE passes (grade C or better) including Mathematics and English Language. In practice, most of our students have at least nine GCSEs. You should have a grade A* - B in those subjects you wish to take at AS/A2 Level. Students with other qualifications may be asked to sit examination papers.

International Students

Our entry requirements for students at school in Britain are seven GCSEs at grade A* - C. If you are studying at a school which enters you for the clear equivalent, for example EdExcel’s ‘O’ Levels, we will make you an offer based on successful achievement of seven ‘O’ Levels.

Where qualifications are more difficult to compare with the British system, we will send our Sixth Form entrance examination and ask you to sit the papers under examination conditions. How this works exactly will vary depending on your circumstances.

Obviously, the more evidence we have of the work you have done the better, and you might like to send us examples of work you have done in school, particularly in Mathematics.

If your work is of the standard we require, we will make you an offer for the Sixth Form. If English is your second language we will normally ask you to take an intensive course in the language during the summer holiday before the September you arrive. We can give you details of suitable courses.
